Satellite Internet for Base Camp
If your RV trip includes an established camp with access to power, Starlink can provide internet connectivity for phones, tablets, laptops and other connected devices.
Starlink Gen 3
A strong choice for a more stationary RV or campsite, cabin or base camp where portability is less important.
Starlink Mini

Before You Head Into RV Travel Country
Choosing the right communication and navigation equipment before your trip can make a big difference once you’re beyond reliable cellular coverage.
Should I rent Starlink Mini or Starlink Gen 3 for RV travel?
Starlink Mini is generally the more attractive option when compact size, storage and portability are priorities. Starlink Gen 3 is a full-size option that can make sense for longer stays or RV setups where compact storage is less important. Starlink Gen 3 includes a 50-foot cord and a separate Wi-Fi router, so the dish can be placed where it has a good view of the sky. The Starlink Mini has a built-in Wi-Fi router, so its Wi-Fi range depends on where the dish is placed.
Does my inReach rental include satellite service?
Yes. OER inReach rentals are activated with satellite service for the rental period. Usage details depend on the applicable OER rental plan.
Is Starlink useful for boondocking and remote campsites?
Yes. Starlink can be a strong option when you want internet connectivity at a campsite or boondocking location beyond reliable cellular coverage, provided you have a suitable place to set up and power the equipment.
Why carry a satellite communicator if my RV has internet?
Your RV-based internet stays with the RV. A portable satellite communicator can travel with you on hikes, day trips and sightseeing excursions, giving you a way to message, share your location or use SOS beyond cellular coverage.
Which device should I take when exploring away from the RV?
The inReach Mini 2 and Mini 3 Plus are compact choices for portable satellite communication. The GPSMAP 67i is a strong choice when you also want dedicated handheld GPS navigation.
When should I reserve my RV travel equipment?
We always recommend booking your rental as early as possible to avoid out of stock gear. We also recommend choosing a start date a few days in advance of your departure/use date in order to avoid UPS shipping issues outside our control and to give you more time to familiarize yourself with the equipment.
