Useful for registration, timing, scoring, race headquarters, staff communications and other internet-dependent event operations.
Compare Starlink Options ↓Starlink Mini
The compact all-in-one option when easy transport, a smaller footprint and simpler temporary setup are priorities.

A strong choice for event headquarters, production areas, field offices and other setups where portability is less important.

Use Starlink for a short-term location, project or backup connection when permanent internet service isn’t practical.
Compare Starlink Options ↓How Much Internet Do You Need?
Starlink provides the internet connection, but internet service and local Wi-Fi coverage are not the same thing. The number of people, devices, work areas and the size of the location can change what a successful setup requires.
A Small Crew
A production team, staff group or small temporary operation has very different needs from a public event with hundreds of attendees.
Staff & Vendors
If the connection is primarily for event operations, identify the devices and work areas that actually need access before the event.
Large Public Wi-Fi
One Starlink rental should not be assumed to provide venue-wide Wi-Fi for hundreds of guests. Large coverage areas or high device counts may require additional networking equipment and planning.
One Starlink or Multiple?
A small crew or single operations area may need only one connection. Larger events with separated work areas, more users or heavier bandwidth needs may benefit from multiple Starlink connections or additional networking equipment.
Planning a Larger Event?
Need internet for a fair, festival, race, production or other larger event? Tell us about the location, number of users, devices, work areas and how you plan to use the connection. We can help determine whether a single Starlink rental makes sense or whether the event may require multiple connections or additional networking equipment.
Starlink Gen 3 vs. Starlink Mini
Both provide satellite internet. The better rental depends primarily on the physical setup, portability and where you need the local Wi-Fi connection.
| Consideration | Starlink Gen 3 | Starlink Mini |
|---|---|---|
| Best For | Event headquarters, productions, field offices and more stationary setups | Portable events, mobile crews, tailgating and compact temporary setups |
| Hardware Style | Full-size dish with separate Wi-Fi router | Compact all-in-one design with built-in Wi-Fi |
| Portability | Larger setup | More compact and easier to transport |
| Local Wi-Fi Placement | Separate router allows the dish and Wi-Fi router to be positioned separately | Built-in Wi-Fi means local coverage depends more directly on where the Mini is positioned |
| OER Base Rental | $185 / 5 days | $185 / 5 days |
| Extra Days | $10 / day | $10 / day |
Actual internet performance depends on location, sky visibility, network conditions, service availability and the way the local network is configured. A Starlink connection is not the same thing as designing a large venue-wide Wi-Fi network.
Internet for Race Operations
Need internet at race headquarters, registration, timing or scoring locations? OERentals provides Starlink rentals for event connectivity. If you also need participant tracking for an entire race or fleet, OER Tracking is our separate race-tracking business built for event organizers.
Events & Temporary Internet Rental FAQ
Common questions when renting Starlink for events, productions, temporary locations and remote operations.
Will Starlink work at my event location?
Starlink needs suitable service availability, power and a location with a sufficiently clear view of the sky. Trees, buildings and other obstructions can affect the connection, so setup location matters.
How many people can use one Starlink?
There is not one useful number for every event. The practical result depends on what users are doing, the number of connected devices, local network design and current Starlink performance. A few operational users have very different requirements from attendee-facing Wi-Fi for a large crowd.
Do I need one Starlink or multiple units?
A small crew or single work area may need only one connection. Larger events with separated operational areas, more users or heavier bandwidth needs may benefit from multiple connections or additional networking equipment. Contact OER for a larger or more complex setup.
How large an area will the Wi-Fi cover?
Starlink supplies the internet connection, but local Wi-Fi coverage depends on the hardware, placement, obstructions and site layout. Do not assume one Starlink will create venue-wide Wi-Fi across a large fairground, race venue or festival.
Can I use Starlink for a wedding, fair or festival?
Yes. Starlink can provide temporary connectivity for planners, vendors, ticketing, registration, payment systems, staff and designated operational areas where conventional internet is unavailable or unreliable. Larger public events may require additional network planning.
Can I use Starlink for TV or film production?
Yes. It can provide a temporary internet connection for remote production locations, communications, cloud-based work and file transfers where suitable Starlink service, power and sky visibility are available.
Can I use Starlink for a race or sporting event?
Yes. Common operational uses include registration, timing or scoring areas, race headquarters, staff connectivity and other temporary event infrastructure. Race organizers who also need participant tracking can use OER Tracking for that separate service.
What power does Starlink require?
Your event must have a suitable power source for the Starlink equipment. Power planning is especially important for outdoor events, remote production locations and temporary worksites where normal utility power may not be available.
Can Starlink be used while moving?
Do not assume a standard OER Starlink rental is intended for in-motion use. If your project requires connectivity from a moving vehicle or platform, contact OER before reserving so we can discuss the intended use.
How far in advance should I reserve equipment for an event?
Reserve as early as possible to reduce the risk of equipment being out of stock. For shipped rentals, we also recommend choosing a start date before the event so there is time for delivery, setup and familiarization.
