Data

The following uses are available for the InReach:

• Pre-Set messages: Create 3 pre-written messages with pre-determined recipients.
• Text Messages: create a custom message on the fly and send to a contact or email/sms number.
• Photo/Voice Messages: create photo and voice messages in the Messenger app.
• Incoming Messages: messages sent to your device
• SOS message: communications with Search and Rescue upon pushing the SOS button
• Tracking: send out tracking pings for folks back home to follow on your MapShare. Tracking intervals available from 2 minutes to 4 hours.
• Location Pings: allows folks to ping your location from the MapShare site (device must be powered on with view of sky)
• Weather – request a weather report for your location

Level 1 Basic – included in all rental for no additional cost:
• Pre-Set messages: Unlimited
• Text Messages (incoming and outgoing): 20 messages included & $0.50/message overage.
• Photo/Voice Messages (outgoing): 5 messages included & $1/message overage.
• SOS messages: Unlimited
• Tracking: 10minute+ tracking intervals. $0.10/tracking point sent
• Location Pings: $0.10/ping
• Weather: $1.00/request

Level 2 – $25.00/rental
• Pre-Set messages: Unlimited
• Text Messages (incoming and outgoing): 100 messages included & $0.50/message overage.
• Photo/Voice Messages (outgoing): 15 messages included & $1/message overage.
• SOS messages: Unlimited
• Tracking: 10minute+ tracking intervals. Unlimited tracking points
• Location Pings: Unlimited
• Weather: $1.00/request

Level 3 – $49.00/rental
• Pre-Set messages: Unlimited
• Text Messages (incoming and outgoing): Unlimited
• Photo/Voice Messages (outgoing): 30 messages included & $1/message overage.
• SOS messages: Unlimited
• Tracking: 2minute+ tracking intervals. Unlimited tracking points
• Location Pings: Unlimited
• Weather: Basic: Unlimited; Premium: $1.00/request

Choosing your plan:
Basic – might send a message or 2 but using mainly for emergencies
Level 2 – more included messaging and ability to use unlimited tracking and location pinging. Can send a bunch of photo and/or voice messages also. Great for when you plan to message more and possibly track your travels.
Level 3 – unlimited text messaging, more photo/voice messages, and detailed tracking. For high use.

Account and Device Setup

Your device will come already activated and ready to use, however there are other setup steps to complete that will be useful, if you choose. We create a personal account for you with Garmin to use with your device:

We will send you an email around the time we ship that will include a link to a Garmin website, a Username and Password
On that site you can do the following:
– Add contacts (email and SMS)
– Update emergency contact infomation
– Activate Mapshare
– Adjust various settings (timezone, how/if you want your location to appear on messages, etc.)
– On the GPSMAP67i – setup routes, waypoints, import .gpx/.kml files, etc.

We will include instructions on setting up pre-set messages as well – OER has to do that on our end and we will ask for the info we need to set it up for you.

After you have completed the setup you will need using the Messenger app on your phone to Sync it and move that info to the device.
